There are many natural remedies for dry hair. You may need to try
one treatment and then add other suggestions to get the results that
you are looking for. This is because the quality of the hair can be
affected by a number of factors.

The first step is to realize that your hair, nails and skin are visible reflections of what’s going on inside of your body. Disease, illness or poor nutrition can affect the way that they look. If you have not been sick, then a lack of nutrients is the likely culprit.
Lack of iodine in the diet can cause dry hair and hair loss. If you eat iodized table salt or take a supplement containing iodine, then you should be okay. If your problems persist or you have other symptoms of a thyroid disorder, you might need to see your doctor.
Essential fatty acids, especially those found in salmon and other types of fatty fish are necessary for the body to produce sebum. The sebum-producing glands are located at the base of each hair-shaft.
The primary function of sebum is to keep the skin and hair moisturized. Lack of essential fatty acids in the diet can lead to excessive dryness of both.

Nutritional supplements containing biotin, PABA, Saw Palmetto, and stinging nettle are excellent for treating brittleness and dryness. Taking a supplement that contains herbs along with using good moisturizing hair products can make quick improvements in the look and texture of your hair.
The most common cause of excessive dryness of the hair, skin and
scalp is excessive washing. Shampoos and plain tap water strip sebum
away, leaving the hairs and the skin unprotected. It is really
unnecessary for most people to wash their hair every day. For instance,
now that I am older, I only wash
my hair every three days. Since I have coarse, dry, color-processed
hair, I have searched far and wide for a shampoo and conditioner to
improve the texture and quality of my hair. (I share my favorite hair
products below.)
If you must shampoo every day, then you will have to use something
to replace the lost oils. A good way to do this is to use hair products
that contain specialized oils that moisturize the hair but do not make
it look greasy.
Milder shampoos are sometimes recommended as natural remedies for
hair that is too dry. Baby shampoo is commonly recommended. But, the pH
level of baby shampoo is actually too alkaline and some brands actually
contain harsh cleansers like sodium laurel sulfate. Look for
shampoos that have a balanced or more acidic pH level. Regardless of
what type of shampoo you use, you will still need something to replace
the lost oils which is why you might want to try the products I use: Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioner. These
products
moisturize the hair shaft and restore shine and body to dry, damaged,
over processed hair.
There are many good brands of shampoos and conditioners on the
market containing only natural ingredients, but you'll have to
experiment before you find the one that works for you. Sugar beets,
green tea,
raspberry and honey are some of the yummy ingredients to look for.
The right shampoo and conditioner plus a good multi-nutritional supplement should be all of the natural remedies for dry hair you ever need. You can usually conquer dryness by using supplements and good quality hair products regularly.
